Founded by our Owner and President, Donald Lyons, it’s been our mission from the very beginning to serve as the primary catalyst between well-qualified equity loan applicants and private lenders, qualified plans, etc., seeking a secure and predictably high rate of return on their investment capital. Don grew up in Southern California, and graduated from La Habra High School in 1966. His first indoctrination into the mortgage lending industry took place early on, working part-time while in high school for a mortgage broker in Whittier, California. Later, Don continued to grow and expand his expertise within the mortgage loan and escrow industry while both working and pursuing his degree at Cal State University, Fullerton. Almost immediately after graduation, Don became Escrow Administrator for the multi-state of operations of what was then the nation’s largest home loan (hard money) brokerage firm, Union Home Loans. That experience served as a kind of post-graduate degree in mortgage lending (specifically hard money lending), where the seeds for the formation of Sterling Home Loans, Inc were originally planted. Shortly thereafter, Sterling Home Loans, Inc., opened its doors.
